Running Late!

"I'd request no using our semblances, but I don't want to put you at too much of a disadvantage," Roland taunts, hoping to egg her into a fighting mood.

Okiro, quite used to Roland's tactics by now, stares at him with a very unamused expression. "...Roland no baka." She says, earning a snicker from Alex.

Iden blinked at the short exchange between the two upperclassmen as she raised her brow at the comment Okiro used towards Roland that had caused a snicker to come from Alex. She wondered what that phrase meant.

"You of all people should be aware of how stubborn I am, Okiro." Roland draws two of Gale's blades before locking them together. "Come on," he urges.

"Baka means idiot, 'case you're wondering." Alex says to Mark and Iden, assuming they must be confused. Okiro, meanwhile, sighs and shakes her head. "I'm not sure, Roland...It's barely the first day. Surely, we can save another fight for a later day."

Mark's eyes went a bit wide, seeing Roland lock his blades together. Like some little kid awaiting a show, he backed off and dropped his duffle bag, before sitting down, using the bag as a seat. It always started with witty-word play, now came the main event. "Alright, alright.... Let's just hope no one calls the police...." Mark said, looking at both Iden and Alex, an slight grin on his face.

"Do you really want everyone sitting here bored for the next hour or so?" he asks, slowly twirling the blades in his hands. "Plus, when was the last time you let yourself show off?"

Iden smiled lightly before she looked to the school once more. She then looked to see that Roland had pulled out his swords and seemed to plan on using them. It was then that she heard Mark's comment and her eyes widen slightly as she slowly backed away towards Mark to get out of the way.

She was suddenly tired of standing but she didn't really want to sit on the ground at the moment, nor did she want to sit on her bag, for it was small compared to the bags she saw the other people bring.

"Never. I have modesty, Roland. A concept you should invest in." Okiro deadpans. A moment passes, and she sighs, reaching behind her back from under her poncho. Underneath its fabric, you could see her Fallow Wheels in her hands. Alex, meanwhile, sits in the bench Roland was occupying moments ago, able to get a decent field of view.

"Nothing wrong with providing entertainment to pass the time." A moment later, Roland calls out in a raised voice, "I want everyone to stand clear! This will only be a demonstration, but these weapons are very real. It would not do to have injuries before we even arrive..." He shifts the twin blades in his hand, one end pointing to the ground and the other running up along his right arm.

While still waiting for the street-spar to commence, Mark quietly munched away at his snack. However, as the last fruit square popped into his mouth, it quickly became apparent.... That was last one. Mark gave the empty box in his hands a bit of a sad look, but that moment quickly passed as he crushed the box, his mechanized hands making short work of the container.

Glancing off to his right, Mark noticed Iden still standing, and looking a bit uncomfortable. "Ah, Iden? You want a place to sit? I can give you my bag if ya want." Mark offered, getting off his bag, "I'm good on the ground, doesn't bother me too much."

Okiro stares blankly at Roland, her eyes quickly surveying the scene. There was nowhere in the immediate vicinity that could be used as a tactical advantage without endangering someone else. The space around them was large, so she'd be able to jump from place to place with no problem. Her Fallow Wheels begin to emanate an icy mist, with ice forming along the blades.

Once a large enough area had been cleared away, Roland steps closer to the center, beckoning Okiro to follow. He notices the mist falling from her chakrams, and quirks a brow at her when he stops. "I thought you were worried about everyone's safety?" he asks, eyes flicking down to the Fallow Wheels for a moment.

Alex raises a brow as Okiro doesn't move, and simply waits for Roland. "I know you will not hold back. Neither shall I." She replies simply, her cold gaze resting on Roland.

Iden watched Okiro and Roland as they seemed to be talking it around as well as...glaring each other down, maybe. She didn't really know but she then looked to Mark, so she had walked towards upon the removal of weapons. He had gotten up and said she could sit upon his bag.

"O-oh...th-thank you" she muttered as she moved and took a seat upon the bag. She had also just noticed that Mark's arms were not skin. "Ummm...p-pardon my asking, but...are your arms...made of metal?" she asked slowly.

"If I wasn't holding back, I would have all five blades out," he says, pausing a moment before continuing, "This is a show, not a full on fight."

Okiro stares into Roland's eyes again, before the mist around the blades dissipates. She then whirls, and throws one of the chakrams right at him, dashing in behind as it flies forward. As the first heads for Roland's front, she leaps into the air to flip over him and attack his flank.

Roland quickly turns, bringing his arm up to block the thrown chakram and detaching the blade pointing up to block Okiro's incoming strike. After the projectile falls, he brings the pommel down to strike at her shoulder.

Fortunately, Okiro is quick enough to fully evade the attack by jumping to the side. She holds her hand out as her chakram flies back into her hands. She steps back again, and throws her blades again, each closing in on him from opposite sides.

Mark gave himself a bit of a dust off, before sitting down. Why he did so was a bit odd... He was clean, and so he dusted his clean self, then sat down. On cement... Dirty, dark cement. Hm, no matter. Contently sitting cross legged, Mark listened to the two older students talk as he waited for the showcase of skills, and when it began, Mark didn't want to take his eyes off them. Somewhere in there, though, Mark caught the last bit of Iden's question. He turned his head slightly to the right, absently looking at his right hand.

"Metal... Yeah, it's Carbide-Steel... Oh! You want to know why they're metal..." Mark said in realization, pivoting a bit and raising his right arm, "It's a robotic-prosthetic. Two of them, actually; right and left arms. Oh! Check this out..." Mark's mechanized right hand suddenly twisted a full 360 degrees, then back again. He loved doing that trick.

Roland whips up a current under himself to boost his jump over the chakrams towards Okiro, both blades still held in a reverse grip behind his arms as he soars towards her. Before touching down, he pushes his arms out in a punch, directing a hammer force of wind at Okiro and softening his landing.

Iden could hear the spar going on before her as she gave the match a few glances before turning her attention back to Mark. She watched as his right hand seemed to move in such a way that a normal hand could not. She just blinked at it, not entirely surprised or distrubed, but, more intriuged by the event. "W-wow" she muttered with awe.

Okiro quickly ducks down to reduce the effect of the gale force, and also to remove the combat knife concealed in her boot, drawing it up to block the attack from connecting with her shoulder. It connects with a clang, and she holds her left hand out, as one of her blades comes flying back to reconnect with her hand, with Roland right in the way.

Roland raises his right hand to block the incoming chakram with Gale's blade, then steps back to create some distance. He swiftly reconnects his two blades before twirling them, a whirlwind gathering around Roland as he goes through the form.

Okiro catches the first blade and places it on a hook on her belt loop, and starts holding the combat knife in a reverse grip, waiting for Roland to make his move.

Roland steps towards Okiro and sweeps his weapon in an upward arc, all the wind he'd gathered collecting under Okiro and trailing in an effort to launch her into the air.

A lone figure watched the skirmish from afar, not wanting to intrude or cut in. He just wanted to watch.

With a friendly smile, he watched the fighting, adjusting the small rucksack on his back, and the strap of his sword's scabbard across his chest.

A Deer faunus, his right antler brushed the wall he was leaning against as he watched his fellow students spar, impressed.

These guys are at my level, if not above it. Saddle B. Cervidae, the Faunus Swordsman, watched the battle intently. He was a relatively fair young man, with dark skin, a button nose, and a scar down his chin. His antlers bore two prongs each, with a chip running down the right one. He wore a dark brown jeep cap, and matching glasses, and a deep brown overshirt over a black shirt and dark, faded jeans. He was the portrait of a traveler, having braved Grimm and the elements to come to Beacon.

I'll have to do some serious training to keep up with these people. Most of them have already had formal training at Signal.

Now, he simply watched, pushing his glasses up. A bit trepid and shy with new people, and outright terrified of crowds, he observed from afar, not wanting to draw attention, or interrupt the festive melee.

Okiro extends her hand, and her other Fallow Wheel enters her hand. Raising the other, she extends her hands, and the blades whirl around her, creating a makeshift tornado around her that simply sucks in the gale force Roland sent her way. Alex, on the sidelines, had to place his hand on his head to ensure his hood didn't fly off.

Okiro then whirls around, and faces her hands out towards Roland. With the miniature tornado still wrapped around her chakrams, they fly at an alarming speed to Roland. She grabs her combat knife once again, and dashes in behind the tornado.

Mark gave a short laugh, Iden's "Wow" reaction was what people usually did. "See, that's the upside of having prosthetics. Anything breaks, it's easy to fix." Mark said, wiggling his fingers, the smaller gears inside giving off light cranking noises. His concentration was broken when a sudden gust of wind blew past. Mark clenched his right fist and moved it in front of his face; slight protection from the buffeting winds, as well as a tin can that seemed to come out of nowhere.

Mark ran his other hand over his head, smoothing down his already slicked-back hair. "I thought they'd hold back, It feels like a hurricane startin' up around here..." He turned his attention fully toward the dueling upperclassmen, amazed and awestruck by their show of power and skill.

Iden nodded as she listened to Mark and watched him move the fingers of the robotic hand. However, she soon felt a flurry of winds suddenly push against her and her hands reflectfully reached up to grip her hood around her neck, keeping it upon her body. She looked back to the battle that she had almost forgotten when her attention had been focused on Mark. But now that she remembered what was going on, she realized that the battle had gotten quite a bit intense.

She then took a glance at Mark and Alex, seeing Alex watching intently and then Mark who seemed almost in awe of the fight before them. As she directed her attention back to the fight, she finally realized that they might still be holding back a bit. This made her finally grasp how strong the people were at this academy. She was sure to learn a lot and become a strong warrior like the two before her.
