Personality: Roland prefers polite civility and maintaining a calm appearance, and will often take strains to keep conversation as such. However, he holds himself and others to high standards, believing strongly in honorable personal conduct. On the other hand, when pressed into a fight, Roland holds nothing back, due to his belief that the most honorable way to fight is to do everything to win; this makes him a harsh combat tutor and sparring partner. He holds a strong disdain for incompetence, and will not refrain from pointing it out when noticed. Dishonorable or willfully stupid conduct quickly leads Roland to anger, leading him to become much more aggressive, and far less civil.

Bio: Roland's early life was simple and carefree. He was often out and about playing with friends, but even at his young age, a fierce competitive streak was already quickly becoming prevalent. This led to some concern over future interactions with his peers, but nothing untoward occurred as a result.

Roland enrolled at Sanctum at the age of 13, and showed a particular aptitude for Aura-enhanced combat. After discovering his semblance at 14, he began working tirelessly to perfect it, often running himself to exhaustion in the process. Instead of discarding his original weapon, which was a double ended flambard he could separate and reattach, he worked it into the new weapon he was creating. This allows him to seamlessly transition between his old fighting style and his Semblance based style.

At the age of 16, during his senior year in Sanctum, Roland was orphaned, his parents unfortunate collateral casualties in a Dust heist. After learning of this, Roland became colder and more reserved, often going out to hunt Grimm on his own. During one such hunt, he was slashed across his left eye, and couldn't fully heal the injury with his aura, leaving him with a scar.

Viewing the scar as a sign of weakness, Roland crafted himself a mask to cover it. In time, it came to represent his ability to protect himself in his mind, and losing it during a fight tends to motivate him to fight harder as a result. Determined to further expand his power, Roland applied for Beacon Academy, and was accepted the year after graduating from Sanctum.

After initiation, Roland was placed on Team HORS with his new partner, Okiro Kikinashi. Initially, he held strong reservations about her, but over time, as she proved her capabilities time and again, Roland eventually came to fully appreciate her as a partner, teammate and friend.

Physical Appearance: Roland stands tall at six feet four inches, and weighs approximately one hundred eighty five pounds. He has rusty red hair that he sweeps back to keep it out of his face, and dark brown eyes. Over his left eye is a scar from an early independent hunt for Grimm leftover from being to drained to completely heal the wound. His eyebrows have a natural furrowed appearance, lending him a somewhat harsh look, especially when coupled with his mask he wears over his scar. He has a toned musculature, but not so much as to be unnecessary. Normally very pale, he flushes a deep shade of red when angered.

Clothing/Armor: A prominent feature of Roland's attire is his mask, which he can always be seen wearing in public. Only in private and among close, trusted company will Roland willingly doff the mask. His clothing often consists of a dark red button-up shirt tucked into a pair of black trousers, which in turn are tucked into a pair of dark brown reinforced leather combat boots that reach up to his knees. Over everything else, he wears a crimson trench coat that splits into three tails and extends to just above his ankles.

Semblance: Current: Roland is capable of directing air to enough of a degree that he is able to both effectively wield his weapon, and supplement it with strikes and slashes of compressed air. Wielding all of Gale's blades as well as utilizing strikes and slashes of air simultaneously is incredibly taxing on him, however, thus he prefers to avoid situations that could require it.

Miscellaneous Info: Roland has a tendency to check for his mask when he's unexpectedly thrown into a social situation. For formal occasions, he adds a black vest and tie to his standard attire. After his parents' deaths, Roland inherited all of their possessions and funds, as well as being the beneficiary on their life insurance; as a result, he has a large sum of money available to him. He has developed feelings of attraction towards his partner, Okiro, but hasn't acted on them out of trepidation at potentially losing what he already has with her.
